WILL a nice, warm day on Thursday help raise the turnout on Thursday?
Certainly, it cannot do any harm, can it? Despite the saying about mad dogs and Englishmen, if it is pouring down on polling day you can forget it.
It's a bit like organising any kind of public event in West Lancs. If it happens to clash with when either Liverpool or Everton are on the telly, they're always a bit of a non-starter.
However, the outlook for Thursday looks okay which, if anything, will work to the advantage of Labour and the Conservatives. Smaller turnouts have been known to produce shock results, and that's the last thing either of them, least of all Labour, need at this point in time.
But I hear that in some well-chosen wards, both the Reds and Blues are pulling out all the stops to ensure that they maintain a high-visibility presence and that leaflets get delivered quick smart.
It looks like it isn't just the weather which is causing outbreaks of perspiration for some in certain parts of West Lancs...
